Last month, me and wife watched season 2 of Cherish The Day and it was one of the best tv shows I’ve seen in a decade. Why? Because it’s one of the only modern tv shows that celebrate straight black love, authentically.
In case you’re not hip to the show, Cherish The Day is an anthology series about a day in the life of a black couple as they fall in love with each other. Each season is about a new couple. This season was about high school sweethearts Sunday & Ellis, played by the amazing Joy Bryant and Henry Simmons, who meet for the first time in 20 years and try to rekindle the flame they lost back in the day.
I really enjoyed watching this season. It highlighted some real challenges that couples face today in life, business, and family, and gave us mature examples of how to resolve drama without getting messy. I salute Ava Duvernay for creating this show as straight black love seems to be fading away from modern tv.
So check out season 2 of Cherish the Day when you get a chance. It’s the best black love story on TV right now, hands down!
Season two was really good, but not good as season one.
Yea, season 1 was good too.
Great rising king. Thank you for sharing I will definitely check this out. I’m in the UK, do you know if it’s showing on Netflix?
Peace! It’s only showing on the OWN network and Amazon, as far as I know.
OK cool, i’ll check it out, thanks, Oneness!!
